Quarterly Top 5 of Ella and Troy (and some changes)

Naptime Momtog, Amber’s Articles, and Click It Up a Notch are hosting a linkup with the top 5 photos of your kids from January-March. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to share my favorites from the first months of 2011. It was tough to choose just five!

Also, you might have noticed things look just a tad different around here! ;) I won a blog makeover from the talented Jhen at From Here to Eternity (thanks to Naptime Momtog for hosting the giveaway). I’m in the process of cleaning up some stuff (organizing it so it is easier to find), but that isn’t completed just yet. Hope you like the new look!

Some Random Blogging Notes

  • I'm now on Twitter. I tried Twitter many moons ago, but never really got into it. I'm trying again now, but I'm sure there is going to be a big learning curve for me. :) Follow me at WhatIWantToBe.
  • I'm trying to do some organizing on my blog, so you may see some things move around as I'm trying to make my content easily accessible without cluttering the blog. What things do you like to see on a blog in regards to style, setup, and organization? What things do you hate? I won't be offended if you don't like how I've set something up. :) I want to make my blog great for you to read!
  • Any particular topics you'd like to see me write about in the New Year (I suppose considering the topics I normally write about.)? Let me know, and I might just write about them. :)
  • I'll hopefully have my About Me section up by the beginning of the New Year. I'm really not that interesting, but I almost always check the "About Me" section when I'm checking out a new blog, so I figure it would be good to have it completed. :)

Our Thanksgiving Meal

I've certainly always enjoyed eating our Thanksgiving meal, but as I've gotten older I've found that I also greatly enjoying preparing the meal as well. This year we have the privilege of hosting Thanksgiving at our home, so I'm busy preparing the menu, making sure to include everyone's favorites. Here's our typical Thanksgiving menu:
  • Turkey
  • Ham
  • Cornbread dressing - my favorite dish of the meal!
  • Mashed potatoes. I'm thinking I might try Pioneer Woman's recipe and make them a day ahead of time.
  • Sweet potatoes. I use this Tyler Florence recipe, minus the bananas and I substitute marshmallows for the crumb topping.
  • Crescent rolls
  • Fruit salad
  • Green Beans
  • Corn
  • Gravy
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Dessert
What will your Thanksgiving meal include?

On a side note, please continue to bare with me as I'm changing the look of my blog a bit. It still isn't looking quite like I want it to look yet!

A New Header and Some Cool Sites

I've been wanting to figure out how to make a header for my blog for a while, and I finally got the inspiration after coming across this site which has tons of really cool fonts you can download. I used one of the fonts, Milk and Cereal, as the font in my header. I made my header in GIMP, which is a free photo editing program that is similar to photoshop (at least from what I've read, I've never used photoshop). I've been enjoying learning to use GIMP to make my photos even better. Eventually I'll get more creative with my header - right now though I'm just proud I figured out how to do it in the first place!
