Christmas 2012

First, our family Christmas. Although nothing exciting, I’m cherishing these photos because last year I lost the photos from our family Christmas due to a problem with my memory card. The kids absolutely loved the Disney name tags. Ella had a great time (at all our Christmases) going around reading the names on all the tags. Troy was pretty funny sometimes because he would look at the tags and act like he was reading them and then say "Its mine?"

Next, Christmas with Gigi and Pop-pa. 121223IMG_2145.jpg 121223IMG_2156.jpg 121223IMG_2159.jpg 121223IMG_2200.jpg 121223IMG_2163.jpg 121223IMG_2212.jpg

And, finally Christmas at Rhu-Rhu's. 121225IMG_2313.jpg 121225IMG_2315.jpg 121225IMG_2317.jpg 121225IMG_2319.jpg 121225IMG_2322.jpg 121225IMG_2333.jpg

Merry Christmas!

It is amazing how the little things can slow you down. Like a broken computer. Or being sick. Add in the holidays and I fall very behind in everything including getting Christmas cards out. Oh well, that’s life. I hope everyone had a great Christmas!

Fall Leaves, Finally!

Texas weather is always weird, and this year was no exception. Where we are located, it stayed generally very warm (highs in the high 70s, low 80s) throughout much of November. I suppose those warm temperatures delayed the falling of the leaves until December (which seems odd to me because I don’t consider December “fall,” but it is Texas afterall). However, once the leaves started to go, they really went, and the kids had a blast playing in piles of leaves.

The Gingerbread House

So behind on blogging (that’s what happens when your computer breaks AND it is the holidays). Catching up a little at a time!

Ella (and Troy this year!) got to decorate a gingerbread house. I was surprised that Troy actually did some “decorating” before he decided he needed to dig into the candy. I cannot believe how much Ella has grown since we decorated a gingerbread house last Christmas, and that Troy could actually help this year!

I let each kid decorate one side of the roof. This one is Ella's side:

All Boy

I know that people are different. That’s obvious. I didn’t know how different people could be when they were so young until I had children. Ella and Troy are quite different, and one of those differences is evident in how they play. Troy is “all boy” and has had more bumps, scraps, and bruises at 2 than Ella has had at almost 4.These photos are a couple of months old, but show off his bumps and bruises that resulted from his “boyness” as well as what we think he might have been doing when he fell and hurt his lip in the first place. (The lip and bump on the head were separate incidences within the same week or so).  I think he’s going to end up with a permanent scar under his lip.

Handprint Trees with Gigi

Over Thanksgiving the kids made handprint trees with their grandma (“Gigi”). They had a great time making the trees, and amazingly, didn’t make a mess (probably because Gigi was helping them instead of me!).

121121IMG_0400.jpg 121121IMG_0419.jpg 121121IMG_0404.jpg 121121IMG_0424.jpg 121121IMG_0434.jpg121121IMG_0433.jpg  121121IMG_0445.jpg121121IMG_0438.jpg

I loved how Ella wrote her name . . . she ran out of room on the side she started on, so Gigi told her to write her “A” on the other side of the tree. She told us she made it big because she had a lot of space for it (something along those lines).
